My Story

I first came to Whitingham in 2021, returning to Vermont after years living away from home. I quickly fell in love with our town  and its wonderful people. Growing up in Rutland, the 5th generation in a family of Vermonters. I was taught to be involved in the community. My father is a business person and former Vermont State Senator. My mother is an artist, community arts organizer. They taught me a deep commitment to community, the importance of hard work, and education.

After high school I studied education at The New School in NY and went on to get my masters degree in Photography from University College of Art in England. I have worked as a substitute teacher in the Rutland public school system where I experienced the challenges our educators and students face in a rapidly changing world.

I am an award winning textile artist and small business owner. Over the past ten years I have worked as a gallery owner and arts educator in Philadelphia. I have taught in schools and worked with community-based arts organizations and larger institutions like the University of Pennsylvania, the Clark Institute, and the International Center for Photography in New York. I was an active member in Philadelphia, sitting on boards of local non-profit arts organizations, advising and mentoring young artists and emerging business owners.

Through my work as a community arts leader, small business owner and educator I have had the pleasure of creating inclusive community spaces and teaching thousands of people creative practices that enhance their lives and bring people together while contributing to community development.

My work has also meant dealing with many challenges including rising costs, insecure housing, establishing emerging businesses, crumbling education systems, the squeeze of caregiving, and food insecurity.

I am passionate about improving our lives in the Windham-6 district—finding solutions within our community to bridge gaps for improving our local quality of life. I am invested in my community and deeply invested in Vermont as a fifth generation Vermonter,

I  have an array of relevant experiences that give me a broad perspective on a range of issues like education and housing. I’m excited for the opportunity to roll up my sleeves and get to work advocating for this wonderful community
